New Delhi: Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has approved the proposal to conduct 450 types of medical tests for free in the Delhi government’s Mohalla clinics and hospitals. These 450 types of tests will be free of cost from 1 January 2023 onwards. As of now, 212 medical tests are free in Mohalla clinics.
Delhi government is giving health benefits as a New Year’s gift to the citizens in the national capital. The government has decided to add 238 types of tests to the existing 212 free tests. Replying to PTI’s tweet, CM Arvind Kejriwal confirmed the news himself. He tweeted saying the Delhi government’s mission is to provide health and education facilities to everyone irrespective of their economic status. He also added that health facilities in private hospitals have become expensive and the government has taken this decision to help people who cannot afford medical tests.

The 212 free tests also included the COVID-19 test in Mohalla Clinic. Mohalla Clinics, though on a small scale, aided government hospitals in COVID-19 tests.
Last month, CM started special Mohalla Clinics for women where they can have gynaecological services, medicines and tests for free. These clinics are called ‘Mahila Mohalla Clinics’ and they act as free healthcare facilities for women.
Delhi government’s Outcome Budget presented in the Assembly on March 25 said that the Kejriwal government targets to open 1,000 Mohalla Clinics. Out of the 1,00, 520 AAMCs were operational in Delhi as on December 31, 2021. As per the information by the government, on average, each Mohalla Clinic handles 116 patients per day and a total of over 60,000 patients a day overall.
