Nidhi murder case: Sufian, who threw girl from 4th floor, nabbed by UP cops; injured in encounter

New Delhi: In a major development, the Lucknow police on Friday nabbed Sufian after a brief encounter in Dubagga area. He has been injured in leg, in a brief encounter with the cops. Police have taken him to hospital for medical treatment.

In the alleged case of love jihad in Lucknow, Sufian had thrown 17 year old Nidhi from the fourth floor of his building, resulting in her death. The accused had reportedly disguised his identity to make the girl fall in his love trap and then was harassing her.

Nidhi’s death led to series of protests by the bereaved family & neighbours. Family refused to cremate her body & protested on the streets, demanding death sentence for him.

The accused was on the run following Nidhi’s death. The UP cops had announced Rs 25,000/- award for any information leading to his discovery.

Sufian & Nidhi were said to be in relationship. The victim’s mother claimed that Sufian was forcing her to convert her religion and marry him. When she rejected his overtures, Sufian started harassing her.
