No leniency on stone-pelters: Yogi govt’s clear message to officials amid crackdown

New delhi: A day after demonstrations by Muslim community, offended by BJP functionary’s disparaging remarks on Prophet Muhammad, in various town of Uttar Pradesh turned violent, the Yogi government has laid out a clear roadmap for punitive action on the miscreants & trouble makers.

The Chief Minister’s Office today asked police officials to ensure that no stone-pelter goes scot free while those innocent must not be harassed.

The CMO office stated that those who indulged in vitiating the atmosphere and created anarhic situation in the state by inciting youth will be dealt with fimrly and no leniency will be exersiced in bringing them to book.

“Such trouble mongers and anarchic people have no place in a civilized society,” the CMO office tweeted.

Yesterday, the Chief Minister in meeting with senior officials, ordered the police to deal with the ‘anti-social elements’ in an exemplary manner.

Meanwhile, the bulldozers have rolled on the streets of UP including Prayagraj & Kanpur and are demolishing illegal properties linked to the rioters & their masterminds.

Police have already arrested 68 individuals while about 5,000 people have been named in 3 FIRs, reports said.

Today morning, the bulldozers reached Atala area of Prayagraj where the protesters assembled in large numbers and pelted stones at police. Today morning, govt officials were seen carrying maps with them and taking measurements of the houses from where stones were pelted.

In Saharanpur, close to 50 people have been arrested & put behind bars for their alleged role in fomenting trouble during demonstrations yesterday.
