‘No need to worry…’: CM Arvind Kejriwal holds review meeting to assess Covid situation in Delhi

He informed that there is not a single case of that variant in Delhi and there is no need to worry.

New Delhi: Amid the cases of Covid-19 Omicron BF.7 variant being found in India and the surge in China, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is holding a review meeting. During the meeting, CM is assessing the situation, while ensuring that the city is ready in case there is a rise in the number of cases.

Kejriwal said that Covid cases are rising in China and other countries, due to the BF.7 variant. He informed that there is not a single case of that variant in Delhi and there is no need to worry. He said that the government is doing genome sequencing and currently, XBB variant cases are being found in Delhi. Talking about the preparedness to fight Covid, he said that there are 8,000 beds for Covid in Delhi and the aim is to prepare 36,000 beds pertaining to Covid. He told that Delhi has a storage capacity of 928 mt tonne oxygen.

Citing some of the issues, he said that only 24% of people have taken precautionary doses in the city, and he request people to take the precautionary doses. He said that the government has 380 ambulances, but has ordered more ambulances. Arvind Kejriwal said that the Delhi government is waiting for the guidelines of the Central government, and they will implement the orders coming from the Centre.

PM Narendra Modi also conducted a review meeting to know the situation of the Covid cases in the country. The meeting was joined by Home Minister Amit Shah and Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. Yesterday, the government urged people to follow COVID-appropriate behaviour and get vaccinated.
