No-Trust Vote: Congress accuses PM Modi of being evasive on Manipur

Mr. Gogoi said, Manipur did not get justice today. Rather, he added, it was injustice with Manipur, as two Manipur MPs, both belonging to the BJP including one minister, were not allowed to speak during the ‘No-Confidence Motion’ brought to highlight Manipur issue.

New Delhi: The Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) today staged a walkout from the Lok Sabha during Prime minister Narendra Modi’s reply on ‘Motion of No Confidence’ and accused him of being evasive about and denying justice to Manipur besides ignoring all other pressing issues facing the country.

Briefing reporters outside the Parliament House, Congress Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha, Gaurav Gogoi said, while the opposition INDIA managed to force the prime Minister to come to the Parliament and speak there, but the main purpose of getting justice for Manipur remains unfulfilled.

Mr Gogoi said that the INDIA had succeeded in forcing him to speak in the country’s Parliament as he was earlier speaking in the foreign parliaments only, while neglecting the Indian Parliament. But, he (the PM) had still not done justice with Manipur even after three months of violence there.

Mr. Gogoi said, since the opposition INDIA did not get answer to any of the threequestions posed to him as to why he didn’t visit Manipur, why he didn’t make anystatement on Manipur and why he did not sack the Manipur Chief Minister, the alliance decided to walk out in protest.

Mr. Gogoi said, Manipur did not get justice today. Rather, he added, it was injustice with Manipur, as two Manipur MPs, both belonging to the BJP including one minister, were not allowed to speak during the ‘No-Confidence Motion’ brought to highlight Manipur issue.

He pointed out, the BJP chose to “seal their mouth” and not let them speak to hide the truth and reality of Manipur from the Parliament and the country.

Mr Gogoi said, the Prime Minister has failed on all the three questions he had posed to him while presenting the Motion of No Confidence.

The Prime Minister continues to remain stubborn in not visiting Manipur; he did not address the Manipur issue and he has not sacked the Chief Minister under whose regime people have been killed, rendered homeless and weapons looted, he further added.

The Congress LS Deputy Leader said, the entire INDIA opposition decided to walk out, as the Prime Minister failed to speak on Manipur, wrestlers’ harassment, Chinese intrusions, national security and inflation.
