Noida Authority carries out test blast before the final demolition of Supertech twin towers

Before the final demolition of the Supertech twin towers in Noida, a test blast was successfully carried out on Sunday afternoon.

New Delhi: Before the final demolition of the Supertech twin towers in Noida, a test blast was successfully carried out on Sunday afternoon. The test blast took place around 2.30 pm under the supervision of the Noida authority in the society in Noida’s sector 93-A.

Before the blast was carried out, a siren was ringed a few seconds at 2.15 pm. At 2.30 pm, two to three sirens were also played. This was done to raise alarms for everyone to keep themselves away from the spot.

Demolition of the towers to be done in May 

Notably, the Noida authority hired Edifice Engineering and Jet Demolitions for the demolition of the Supertech twin towers.

 

The demolition of the Supertech twin towers will be done on May 22. Before the D-day, the test blast will help the authorities to ascertain the exact amount of explosives for demolishing the towers. The test blast, carried out today, was done by using five kg explosives in the Apex tower.

Supreme Court orders demolition of Supertech twin towers

Supertech twin towers has a Apex tower (100 metre) and Ceyane (97 metre). It is reported that the builders of the towers did not follow the building norms. Owing to the safety issues, the Supreme Court ordered the towers’ demolition on August 31.

The apex court had also blamed the local Noida Authority for negligence during the time of approval of the project.

It is important to note that nearly 100-metre twin towers will be razed in just nine seconds. It will be known down with up to four tonnes of explosives.
