New Delhi: In a male-dominated society, it is not easy for a single mother to earn her livelihood. However, a single mother in Noida defeated all odds in her life to drive an e-rickshaw among males. The 27-year-old Chanchal Sharma has now become popular among other drivers. Sharma daily drives the vehicle from the National Insitute of Biological the sector 62 to labour chowk in Sector 62.
Earns Rs 600 to 700 daily
Every day Chanchal drives the vehicle from the National Insitute of Biological the sector 62 to labour chowk in sector 62 for 6.5 kms. She started the job after 1.5 years of the birth of her son, Ankush. She took a loan to purchase an e-rickshaw. She daily earns Rs 600 to 700 but she can only take Rs 300 home after paying the monthly instalment.
Chanchal has three sisters who are now married. After getting separated from her husband, she now lives with her mother. Sharing her daily routine, the class 10th pass woman said many commuters feel proud to salute her.
Wants to give a good life to my son
Chanchal said that she tried to find some other jobs in the beginning but she could not find any as she wanted to have her child always by her side. Finally, she came to the conclusion that becoming an e-rickshaw driver will be a good option for her.
Talking about her personal life, Chanchal said that her mother also works as an onion hawker. Owing to this, she has to carry her baby boy with her to take care of.
However, Chanchal said that she is hopeful to give everything to her son that she never received from her parents.
