While Uttar Pradesh is set on a red alert for next few days, states like Punjab and Haryana has witnessed a thick blanket of fog over them.

Bathinda was the coldest place in Punjab, with a minimum temperature of 1.2 degrees Celsius, while Sirsa was the coldest in Haryana, with a minimum temperature of minus 3 degrees Celsius, according to the weather reports of Indian Metrological Department (IMD).

Gurdaspur has experienced a low of 2 degrees Celsius, Ludhiana had a low of 5.8 degrees Celsius, Patiala with 4.8 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Pathankot has witnessed a low of 6.6 degrees Celsius, Faridkot had a low of 4.8 degrees Celsius, and Amritsar had a low of 5.6 degrees Celsius.

In Haryana, Narnaul had a low of 4 degrees Celsius, Hisar with 4.5 degrees Celsius, Bhiwani and Jhajjar had a low of 6.9 degrees Celsius, and 5.7 degrees Celsius respectively.

On the other hand, the common capital of the two states, Chandigarh, recorded a 6.6 degrees Celsius.

From Tuesday to Saturday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts cold day conditions in some parts of Uttar Pradesh (January 3-7) issuing a red warning across the state.

At least 36 districts are likely to be effected by the cold day conditions. These include Mirzapur, Varanasi, Jaunpur, Chandauli, Ghazipur, Mau, Ballia, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Azamgarh, Basti, Kushinagar, Siddharth Nagar, Gonda, Maharajganj, Balrampur, Shravasti, Ayodhya, Ambedkar Nagar, Bijnor, Sultanpur, Amroha, Moradabad, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Sambhal, Badaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Lalitpur, Jalaun, and Jhansi.
