New Delhi: Oyo founder Ritesh Agarwal’s father Ramesh Agarwal passed away on March 10 after falling from a high-rise building in Gurugram. A spokesperson of Oyo and Ritesh Agarwal himself confirmed the news of the demise. The news comes after Ritesh got married to Geetansha Sood, the director of Farmation Ventures.
In a statement, Ritesh said that he and his family are sharing the news of his father’s demise with a heavy heart. He also mentioned his father as his ‘guiding light and strength’ and said that his father lived a full life and inspired him and many others.
The statement also said that the death is a ‘tremendous loss’ for the family. Ritesh added that his father’s compassion and warmth helped them in their toughest times and in moving forward. His words will resonate deep in their hearts. He also asked requested everyone to respect his family’s privacy in this time of grief.
Ritesh Agarwal tied the knot with Geetansha Sood and the couple held a reception on March 7 at the five-star Taj Palace hotel in Delhi. Entrepreneurs, investors and big names from the start-up world were all present at the reception. The Japanese billionaire and SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son attending the reception made the maximum headlines. Son helped Ritesh with a hefty loan to expand his firm Oyo Rooms.

The event also had big names including Paytm’s Vijay Shekhar Sharma and Lenskart’s Peyush Bansal, who is also a celebrity after Shark Tank India. The couple also, recently, met PM Narendra Modi and President Doupadi Murmu.
