Patna SSP compares PFI training with RSS shakha, draws flak; BJP demands action

SSP Manavjeet Singh Dhillon, while briefing the media about today’s police raids, compared the radical outfit PFI with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

New Delhi: Hours after arrest of 2 suspected terrorists during raids in Patna’s Phulwari Sharif area and their alleged connection to Popular Front of India (PFI), the city SSP has landed in a row over his controversial remarks.

SSP Manavjeet Singh Dhillon, while briefing the media about today’s police raids, compared the radical outfit PFI with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

“The way RSS Shakahs are organized & activists training, similar pattern was being followed by PFI. Under the garb of martial arts, they are providing arms training to activists,” said the SSP Dhillon.

The SSP drawing parallel between PFI & RSS raised the hackles of BJP. The saffron party raised strong objection to unfair & unjust reference by the top cop and demanded strict against him.

SSP’s remark divides Bihar govt

The SSP’s remark left the BJP enraged but its coalition partner in Bihar govt HMM has come out in support of the police officer.

BJP legislator Harish Bhushan Thakur said that this statement shows mental bankruptcy and demanded that the SSP apologises else action should follow.

Jitan Ram Manjhi’s HMM disagreed with BJP and said that the SSP was unnecessarily being dragged into the row.

“If talks of Islamic state are wrong, then what justifies the claims of Hindu Rashtra,” it asked.
