PFI wades into Gyanvapi row, appeals youth to resist ‘move to capture mosques’; questions court

It claimed that unwarranted claims of ownership were being made in case of Gyanvapi mosque & also Mathura Shahi Idgah and this must be opposed by uniting against them.

New Delhi: While the court hearing on Gyanvapi mosque controversy is underway, the Popular Front of India (PFI) has appealed to its members & youth to come forward against what it calls ‘a sinister move to capture Muslim places of worship’.

The Front posted a letter on its Twitter handle and called on youth to resist any moves against mosques. It claimed that it was a planned move by the RSS & other Hindtuva forces to create communal strife by trying to usurp its places of worship. It claimed that unwarranted claims of ownership were being made in case of Gyanvapi mosque & also Mathura Shahi Idgah and this must be opposed by uniting against them.

It claimed that the Hindutva forces are stoking controversy at many other Muslim religious places including Mangaluru Masjid and it is a conspiracy by them.

The fundamentalist group, unsparing in its attack, also slammed the courts and claimed that the courts didn’t bother to check the unverified facts put forward by the Hindu side.

This comes hours after the Hindu side alleged in Varanasi district court that the Shivling found in wazukhana area of the mosque was being damaged to alter the character of complex. At a time when there should been an effort to acknowledge & address those concerns, the charged up statement by PFI poses fresh danger to communal harmony.

In the letter, it also claimed that the litigations by Hindu side are communally motivated and it was aimed at changing the character of places of worship.

The radical group is already under the scanner of probe agencies for its alleged role in fomenting riots & violence across the country. To name a few, its funding to anti-CAA protesters in Delhi & UP and also inciting protests despite hijab ban in Karnataka’s educational institutions is already being investigated.
