New Delhi: The Men in Blue, dealing with excruciating loss in the World Cup 2023 final, had an unexpected guest in the dressing room last evening. While the Team India disappointed over loss to Australia shared restless moments in the dressing room, Prime Minister Narendra Modi walked in and comforted the players.
The high-octane World Cup final match at the Motera Stadium was attended by many high-profile guests including PM Modi, Amit Shah, Australian Deputy CM and host of Bollywood celebrities.
The Men in Blue, who looked ominous throughout the World Cup series and dominated all competing teams, lost the final battle at Narendra Modi stadium yesterday.
After the World Cup loss, Team India, once the favourites to lift the trophy, was heartbroken and devastated. The disappointed team got itself restricted to the dressing room, apparently to tide over highly emotional moment, got visited by the Prime Minister.
PM Modi met the Indian cricketers, lauded their grit & determination and comforted them over biggest setback of the tournament. He comforted Mohammed Shami, who stole the show in India’s semi-final against New Zealand and led the team into final.
Jadeja thanks PM Modi for dressing room visit
A couple of cricketers today shared the image of Prime Minister visiting the dressing room and comforting them.
Ravindra Jadeja took to X, formerly called Twitter and said that the World Cup loss left them broken but it was the support of fans that kept them going. He said that PM Modi’s visit to the dressing room was very special, as he lifted our spirits and motivated us despite the Team disappointing crores of fans in last encounter.

PM Modi comforts Shami with a hug
Mohammad Shami also took to Twitter and shared a heartwarming picture of how he was consoled & motivated by the Prime Minister despite loss.
In the picture shared by him, PM Modi can be seen comforting the cricketer by extending a warm hug.
PM Modi also lifted the spirit of other team members and encouraged them to chase their goals with same grit & determination they showed in this World Cup.

India’s domination at World Cup 2023
Team India had a dream run this World Cup. The team, since the start of World Cup campaign, looked well in shape to lift the trophy. Under Rohit Sharma’s stewardship, the team thrashed all the competing teams including Australia.
Rohit along with Virat Kohli & Shreyas Iyer made for a compelling batting line-up while bowling trio of Mohammad Shami, Jasprit Burmah & Mohammed Siraj gave the rival teams, sleepless lights.
The World Cup final however saw India failing in most departments. Team had a disappointing start. With early batting line-up failing to survive Aussie attack, the team reached a moderate 240 runs.
In second innings, Bumrah and Shami managed to pile pressure on the Aussies by scalping 3 wickets in first 10 overs. But, the swashbuckling innings by Travis Head (131 runs) along with support from Marnus Labuschagne (57 runs), the Down Under wrest the match easily from India’s clutch.
Despite Team India’s best efforts, the Aussies registered an easy victory, thus lifting the trophy for record sixth time.
