PM Modi in Japan for G7 Summit: Prime Minister looking forward to exchanging views with the G7 countries and other invited partners

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Japan today. He will be attending the Group of Seven (G7) summit on Friday. PM Modi is visiting the East Asian country at the invitation of his Japanese counterpart, Fumio Kishida.

He will be in Hiroshima from May 19 to May 21 for the G7 summit. Prime Minister is expected to speak on global challenges, including food, fertiliser and energy security.

Prime Minister said that he is looking forward to exchanging views with the G7 countries and other invited partners on challenges that the world faces and the need to collectively address them. Hw will also hold bilateral meetings with some of the leaders attending the Hiroshima G7 Summit.

From Japan, he will also be visiting Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. This will be PM Modi’s first visit, as also the first ever visit by any Indian Prime Minister, to Papua New Guinea.

On May 22, 2023, PM Modi will host the 3rd Summit of the Forum for India–Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC III Summit) jointly with H.E. Mr. James Marape, Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea.

PM Modi said that he is grateful that all 14 Pacific Island Countries (PIC) have accepted the invitation to attend this important Summit.

Apart from the FIPIC engagements, PM Modi will also interact with Papua New Guinea Governor General Sir Bob Dadae, Prime Minister Marape and some of the other PIC Leaders participating in the Summit.

Following this PM Modi will be travelling to Sydney, Australia at the invitation of Prime Minister Albanese.

Also at a special event, he will be interacting with Australian CEOs and business leaders, and meet the Indian community in Sydney.
