Pre-poll survey predicts BJP returning to power in Goa, AAP expected to win big in Punjab

In Goa, BJP is projected to bag 20-22 seats in 40 member assembly and thus return to power for second term. AAP & Congress are seen in close race and both are expected to fetch between 4-6 seats each.

New Delhi: Months ahead of Assembly elections in 5 states namely Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa & Manipur, pre-poll surveys have been giving a fair understanding of the voter mindset and which way the election will sway.

Uttar Pradesh, as expected, is the most hard fought state with all parties throwing their weight to derive maximum share of vote percentage & seats.

In an Opinion poll conducted by NewsX-Polstrat, BJP is seen retaining power in Goa while Congress is seen slipping behind AAP in the electoral race.

In Goa, BJP is likely to emerge as the largest party, bagging about 33% voteshare while AAP is seen fetching a good vote percentage despite being a new party in the southern state. AAP may trump Congress in vote share, says the survey.

In terms of seats, BJP is projected to bag 20-22 seats in 40 member state assembly and thus return to power for the second term. AAP & Congress are seen in close race and both are expected to fetch between 4-6 seats each.

Punjab

If pre-poll survey are to be believed, Channi-led Congress government may be dislodged in the coming elections. AAP is seen emerging as the biggest party and getting 38% vote share while Congress is falling behind at 35% vote share.

BJP will be reduced to a paltry 3% vote share while Capt Amarinder’s party is not seen making an impact.

In terms of seats, AAP will be the biggest party fetching anywhere between 47-52 while Congress is seen getting restricted at 40-45 seats.

SAD, which broke alliance with BJP over farm bills, seems to have done some damage control. BJP may be reduced to 0-2 seats in the 117-member Assembly, predicts poll survey.
