New Delhi: Droupadi Murmu, today took oath as the 15th President of India, with this she became the first tribal, second woman, post Pratibha Patil (2007-2012).
The 64-year-old, also became the youngest-ever President. Now she holds a list of powers under her including legislative, executive, judicial, financial, diplomatic and military.

# She will hold the power, also the responsibility to appoint the Prime Minister of India
# President Murmu will also hold the power to appoint the Chief Justice of India.
# She will also hold the appointing authority for all states and thus can dismiss a Governor if required.
# President will also have the power to appoint many other posts including Ambassadors to foreign countries.
# The President of India, being the commander-in-chief of all the Indian Armed Forces can declare war or call it off on the basis of the advice of a Council of Ministers by the Prime Minister.
# Country’s Treaties with foreign countries are also signed in the name of the President.
# Also, the government’s financial budget needs the prior consent of the President before it is introduced in Parliament.
# The President can also declare a National/State/Financial Emergency at any point in time if required.
Salary of President
The President of India, gets a salary of Rs 5 lakh per month. Earlier, the President salary was Rs 1.5 lakh, but later it was increased by the Government of India in the 2018 Union Budget to Rs 5 lakh per month.
