President Murmu to visit London to attend state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II

President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to visit London, the United Kingdom between 17 to 19 September to attend the State Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to visit London, the United Kingdom between 17 to 19 September to attend the State Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. Meanwhile, she will offer condolences on behalf of the Indian government. Notably, Queen passed away on September 8 in her home state. She was 96. Following her death, the Indian government declared one-day national mourning on Sunday i.e. September 11.

On the day of mourning, the notification issued by the government said the National Flag will be flown at half-mast throughout India on all buildings where the Flag is flown regularly.

On that day, the government also cancelled all the official entertainment programmes. At the demise of her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Indian president, Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankar, Narendra Modi also expressed condolences.

On September 10, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to newly won UK PM Lizz Truss to convey his condolences on the sad demise of the Queen. Mr Modi also tweeted about the same on Twitter.

Now, Queen’s eldest Son Charles took the throne as King Charles III. At her mother’s demise, Charles wrote, ”The death of my loved mother, her majesty the Queen, is the moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family.”
