Punjab govt appoints AAP leader Raghav Chadha as chairman of advisory committee

The Punjab government had signed a knowledge-sharing agreement with the Delhi government in the month of April this year

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party’s Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha has been appointed as the chairman of the new advisory committee of Punjab government. This committee will advise the government on various issues of public interest.

Notably, the AAP leader had left the post of MLA when the party formed government in the border state and was nominated as a member of upper house from Punjab.

The state government intend to expeditiously implement the knowledge-sharing agreement between Delhi and Punjab governments through this committee. The office bearers of this committee will reportedly not get any separate allowances or benefits.

What is Knowledge-Sharing Agreement?

The Bhagwant Mann government had signed a knowledge-sharing agreement with the Delhi government in the month of April this year. Though, it could not be implemented so far. If reports are to be believed, changes in education and health will be carried out via the newly formed committee.

Punjab govt believes that the works of the administration will be accelerated through this committee, which decisions related to public issues whenever necessary and will also recommend improvements in welfare schemes.

Who is Raghav Chadha? 

Chadha holds a degree of finance and is a Chartered Accountants by profession, and has worked in various multinational companies in the early days of his career.

He joined activist Anna Hazare’s movement against corruption in 2014, and later was one of the founder member of AAP along with Arvind Kejriwal, Satyendra Jain and others.

Raghav Chadha has been a crucial part of party planning committee for the recently concluded Punjab assembly polls, wherein AAP won with an astonishing margin and formed the government in the state by defeating ruling Charanjit Singh Channi-led Congress.
