
New Delhi: A day after the state government withdrew his security, Punjabi singer and Congress leader Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead by unidentified persons in Mansa district of Punjab on Sunday, May 29.
Moosewala, who had recently joined Congress, had contested the Punjab assembly polls from Mansa and was defeated by the AAP candidate Vijay Singla by a massive margin of 63,000 votes.

Three persons including Sidhu were injured in the incident, wherein Moosewala succumbed to severe injuries.
According to media reports, Sidhu Musewala was traveling by his car with some other companions, during which, some assailants riding in a black car opened fire on them. There have been 30 rounds of firing on Moosewala.

Dr Ranjeet Rai, Civil Surgeon at Mansa Hospital told that Sidhu Moosewala was brought dead to the hospital.

If news reports are to be believed, Moosewala was constantly receiving threats from gangsters.
Significantly, apart from Sidhu, the security of 424 more people was also removed by the state government.
Congress party spokesperson Randeep Surjewala condoled the brutal murder of Sidhu Moosewala and said that the incident has shocked him.
