Race for V-P: Margaret Alva’s old interview about Gandhis-Michel link sparks row, BJP shares VIDEO

BJP leader Suresh Nakhua shared her previous interview with a TV channel in which she makes damning revelations about the Gandhi family’s links with the VVIP chopper deal middleman Christian Michel.

New Delhi: Amid the voting for Presidential election on Monday, the NDA’s Vice-Presidential candidate Jagdeep Dhankhar also filed his nomination. Taking him on will be the Opposition pick Margaret Alva, a veteran Congress leader who has served as Union Minister in previous UPA governments.

After Opposition finalized Margaret Alva as its candidate, Congress leaders including Mallikarjun Kharge heaped praise on her but the former is a known critic of Gandhis. Her biography and interview in 2016 on Gandhis alleged connection with the VVIP chopper deal middleman Christian Michel created a flutter in political circles, then.

As Margaret Alva prepares to file her nomination on Tuesday, her old interview has again surfaced on social media where she could be seen spilling the beans on ‘dark secrets’ of UPA regime.

BJP leader Suresh Nakhua shared her previous interview with a TV channel in which she makes damning revelations about the Gandhi family’s links with the VVIP chopper deal middleman Christian Michel. The latter is currently in jail for offering bribes to Indian govt for signing the VVIP chopper deal.

In an interview with host Karan Thapar, the veteran Congresswoman opened up the Pandora’s Box and claimed that Indian Army tanks which were supposed to land in Canada ended up in South Africa.

“And, it was happening under the instructions of Sanjay Gandhi, son of then PM Indira Gandhi,” she says in the interview.

She further claimed that Christian Michel, the middleman in the AgustaWestland VVIP helicopter deal scam, told her in a phone call that he had links with the Gandhi family.

While Opposition claims that Margaret Alva is a credible & strong candidate that will aptly challenge NDA’s Jadeep Dhankhar, the BJP has mounted a campaign to impress upon voters about ‘secret pact’ between Congressmen & bribe-givers.
