New Delhi: On the first day of Parliament’s Winter Session, a rare footage of political bonhomie between two bitter rivals surfaced on the social media.

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is seen giving a pat on TMC MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay from behind, while the latter was talking to media persons. The light moment has become the highly circulated footage after it landed on social media. Despite belonging to parties with acrimonious relationship, the friendly exchange between the two leaders is being admired and appreciated by the netizens.

Sudip Bandyopadhyay, taking on the Centre over petrol prices, is taken aback by Rajnath’s gesture, who then asks the TMC leader ‘to go ahead’.
The video was apparently shot during the all-party meet yesterday, a customary meet ahead of the beginning of new session of the House.

The video is of yesterday, apparently after the All Party meet. TMC lawmaker was briefing the media about the party’s stand in the upcoming Winter Session while also speaking on a range of issues including rising petrol prices.


Sudip Bandyopadhyay was telling the press that TMC will not attend Opposition meet which had been called by Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge.

Mallikarjun Kharge, leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha had said, “All the opposition parties I think should come to the meeting on Monday to create consensus over the issues to be raised in the Parliament. The issues that are on priority shall be discussed in the meeting.”
