New Delhi: Almost two years after the tragic demise of Sushant Singh Rajput, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has charged the actress Rhea Chakraborty for buying drugs and supplying to her boyfriend.
The NCB chargesheet says that Rhea procured the narcotics for Sushant Rajput and abetted his ‘extreme drug addiction’. Along with Rhea, the NCB has booked 35 people in the case, including her brother Showik Chakraborty.
The NCB filed its draft chargesheet in the special court under the Narcotics Drugs & Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) last month and booked 35 people in connection with actor’s death, however, the details got revealed on Tuesday.
For the unversed, Sushant Singh Rajput died by suicide on June 14, 2020.
What the NCB chargesheet says
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in its draft charge says that delivery of drgus for Sushant Singh Rajput was taking place since 2018.
Accused Rhea procured the drugs for boyfriend Sushant Rajput and then aided & abetted the actor to extreme drug consumption
Rhea, her brother and 2 staff of the late actor have been charged for allegedly purchasing contraband for Sushant rajput. The NCB says that the actor was receiving regular supply of drugs since 2018, with active support of his close friends.
NCB further claims that from March 2020 – Sept 2020, Rhea received several ganja deliveries from Samuel Miranda, Showik Charoborty and Dipesh Sawant and handed it over to actor-boyfriend Sushant Rajput and made payments for those deliveries.”
NCB claims that Sushant’s flatmate Siddharth Pithani also facilitated supply of drugs through the actor’s bank account and called it ‘puja samagri’.
The draft charges also claim that Rhea’s brother Showik was in regular touch with drug peddlers and had received many deliveries from co-accused.
Implications for Rhea
Rhea Chakraborty is listed as accused number 10 in the NCB draft report. With NCB penning the charges against her, her troubles are set to mount. If convicted, Rhea Chakraborty may face jail upto 10 years.
In all her statements, the actress has denied any role in Sushant’s drug addiction & death and called the investigation a witch hunt. Speaking to press at earlier occasions, she outrightly denied link with any drug peddler and denied procuring any drugs.
