‘Sadda CM, Banega PM’: Punjab Speaker’s Twitter profile about Kejriwal sparks row

Such reckless promotion of Arvind Kejriwal for the top post only goes on to strengthen the ‘master-puppet theory’ mounted by Opposition.

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s troubles in Punjab are far from over. In latest episode, the Twitter profile of Punjab Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan has sparked controversy and given fresh ammo to the Opposition in raising its pitch against the newly elected government.

Sandhwan, in his Twitter profile, has posted a picture of AAP convenor & Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal but what has created furore in political circles is his four letter word – ‘Sadda CM, Banega PM’. This has raised the hackles of Opposition members, who have gone full throttle to slam the Bhagwant Mann government & its ‘political master’ in Delhi.

Political analysts also see such behaviour by Punjab Speaker as grossly immoral & unscrupulous. They believe that this puts the probity of Speaker under scanner and calls for an immediate course correction. A person sitting on such a high constitutional post has to act responsibly and he can’t be ‘enslaved’ by his beliefs & liking for anyone.

Kultar Singh Sandwan is a two-time AAP legislator and was unanimously elected as Speaker of 16th Punjab Legislative Assembly. His name was proposed by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann himself. The 46-year-old AAP leader won the Kotkapura Assembly seat by defeating Congress rival by over 21,000 votes.

Why such adulatory is not welcome move?

The words of adulation & appreciation for party’s supremo is understood but that must be done in private and no official platform should be used for furthering one’s own agenda. Moreover, this is also an attempt at ‘maligning’ the top post of the country i.e. Prime Minister.

Such reckless promotion of Arvind Kejriwal for the top post only goes on to strengthen the ‘master-puppet theory’ mounted by Opposition. Congress & BJP, both have dubbed Bhagwant Mann govt as ‘rubber stamp’ administration and claim that Punjab is being run by its ‘masters’ in Delhi.

The recent meeting of Delhi CM with ministers and top secretaries of Punjab in the national capital created big uproar as Punjab CM was ‘bypassed’ for the meet. This gave enough political fodder to the rivals, who lapped it up and slammed both Delhi & Punjab government for ‘first befooling & then betraying’ the people of Punjab.
