In its judgement, the apex court said the transfer of the FIRs shall apply to all existing FIRs and to all future FIRs that may be registered on the issue. The top court also denied the request of the UP government to refrain Zubair from tweeting.

According to the Advocate Vrinda Grover, appearing for Zubair in court, all 6 FIRs against the Alt News Co-founder are based on the same tweet.

Notably, Zubair has already been granted bail by a Delhi Court in the case registered by the Delhi Police on a 2018 tweet by him. In the tweet, he had shared a screenshot of a 1983 Bollywood movie, Kissi Se Na Kehna.
