Section 144 in Karnataka’s Puttur after BJP worker’s killing; role of PFI, SDPI under scanner

Taking cognizance of the brutal murder, Karnataka Home Minsiter said Arga Arga Jnanendra said that those outfits behind hijab protests could have been the murder of Praveen.

New Delhi: Prohibitory orders have been put in place in Karnataka’s Puttur region after the murder of Praveen Nettaru, a BJP Yuva Morcha worker. The BJP worker was reportedly hacked to death with lethal weapons by a group of unidentified assailants who attacked him at Bellare in Dakshin Kannadda district on Tuesday evening.

According to reports, the victim was attacked while he was returning home. He owns a poultry shop near Bellare. Police have lodged case & probe is underway.

Security forces have been deployed in large numbers and vigil tightened in the area to prevent any skirmish over the murder. Protests erupted over the killing of BJP worker as large crowd gathered outside the police station demanding stringent action against the perpetrators. Additional forces have also been rushed to keep the situation under control.

Role of PFI, SDPI under lens

Taking cognizance of the brutal murder, Karnataka Home Minsiter said Arga Arga Jnanendra said that those outfits behind hijab protests could have been the murder of Praveen. The minister told a news channel that as the crime happened in a border area, it is possible that assailants could have carried out the act and fled to Kerala.


Meanwhile, the Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has assured of action against the culprits.

“The barbaric killing of our party activist Praveen Nettaru from Dakshina Kannada district is condemnable. The perpetrators of such a heinous act will be arrested soon and punished under the law. May Praveen’s soul rest in peace. May God bless his family with the strength to bear this pain. Om Shanti,” tweeted Bomma in Kannad language.

Hindu outfits call for bandh, demand action

Many Hindu outfits have strongly protested the killing of BJP worker and demanded that the assailants be nabbed & punished for the crime. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) called for a bandh in Suliya and Puttur Taluks against the brutal murder.


They also accused the Popular Front of India (PFI) and its political arm Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) of hatching conspiracy behind the killing.
