Shocker: 16-year-old shoots at rapist’s mother in northeast Delhi’s Bhajanpura

The victim was rushed to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital by local residents.

New Delhi: In a shocking incident, a 16-year-old allegedly shot a 50-year-old woman in northeast Delhi’s Bhajanpura, said Delhi Police.

Police said the minor has been apprehended.

According to the police, the minor had accused the woman’s 25-year-old son of raping her in 2021. Her son is currently in jail.

After the woman was shot, she was rushed to hospital and is said to be out of danger, said Officers.

The police control received the information about the incident at around 5:30 pm, said Deputy commissioner of police (northeast) Sanjay Kumar Sain.

The victim was rushed to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital by local residents.

When the police reached the spot, they found that woman runs grocery store on the ground floor of her residence, and the minor was with her when she shot her and ran away from the spot.

The police investigating the case were able to apprehend the girl within hours and also the country-made pistol which she had used to shoot the woman was recovered.

In 2021, after the girl had alleged of rape by the woman’s son, he was registered on the charges of rape and under relevant sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. He is still lodged in jail.

Police are also trying to find out the reason behind this step.

Also, the police are trying to find out on how and from where the girl got the weapon.
