Shocking! Doctors surgically remove 7.5 inches long deodorant bottle from youth’s stomach in Kolkata

Doctors further informed that the person’s intestines are also severely damaged and will have to be fixed via surgery in the future

New Delhi: Doctors of Burdwan Medical College Hospital surgically removed an entire bottle of deodorant from the stomach of a 27-year-old man.

The individual had visited the emergency department of the hospital on Wednesday with complaints of abdominal pain. Doctors were shocked to see a seven and half inches long bottle buried in the stomach with its lid still attached to it.

After several tests, doctors decided to remove the bottle via operation. The bottle was removed and the patient’s esophagus was also fixed in a two-hour-long surgery.

Doctors further informed that the person’s intestines are also severely damaged and will have to be fixed via surgery in the future.

How did the bottle get inside?

Dr Arindam Ghosh told English daily News18 that the bottle of deodorant entered through the rectum nearly 20 days ago for some reason, and the person was suffering from abdominal pain since then.

“This was a big deal for us, we treated him with uttermost care”, said Hospital Superintendent Tapas Ghosh.

The man has been carrying the bottle inside his stomach for last twenty days and was not even able to respond to nature’s call for the past few days.

The medical team at the hospital said that the patient’s life was at risk and hence they decided to go with immediate surgery.

“We are happy with the treatment provided by the hospital. Government hospitals usually delay the process. But they were very prompt”, said the patient’s family.
