New Delhi: From calling the entire incident, an “isolated incident” to finally voicing out against the entire incident, Sourav Ganguly has displayed various shades of colours. Now, the former Indian cricketer has turned his DP to black in the X (formerly Twitter) to show his solidarity with thousands of social media users.
The black DP has been a social media phenomenon which was done as a mark of respect and solidarity amongst the thousands of protesting women against the gruesome murder and r*ape of the RG Kar resident doctor. This movement which has been named ‘Female’s Blackout’ Day was celebrated as a spontaneous social media movement.

Ganguly Takes a U-Turn from His Comments
Earleir Ganguly had made extremely irresponsible comments on the entire issue. According to Ganguly, this incident is just a one off incident i.e. it is an isolated incident and not a coordinated attack.
In a society which is an amalgamation of white and black, such incidents are part and parcel of the same. Naturally, without proper and concrete evidence one cannot point fingers towards the authorities for the entire issue.

Sourav’s above mentioned comments have triggered huge waves of opinion against the former Indian cricket team captain who has been fondly called ‘Dada’ in Kolkata. In response to this online reaction, Ganguly was forced to change his opinion of ‘isolated incident’ to a more balanced and judicious argument.
Subsequently, Ganguly said, “I don’t know how what I said last Sunday was construed or interpreted. I have said it earlier as well that (the crime) it’s a terrible thing. Now the CBI (and the) police are investigating the matter. It’s very shameful what has happened.”
It is still not known completely who was behind the gruesome murder and r*ape of the resident doctor.
