The Indian National Congress in the third phase of its nationwide social media campaign, ”Speak Up India” raised the voice of the citizens affected by the massive increase in petrol and diesel prices.
Pained by the government’s heartless decision to raise fuel prices 22 times in 23 days while the nation is struggling, the public participated in large numbers to make their voice reach the BJP government.
#SpeakUpAgaintFuelHike trended on top on twitter worldwide around noon and has been trending on top in India since 10 am with more than two lakh tweets and a reach of more than 12 crore people.

The BJP government has failed on all fronts and crushed the common man. Every action of theirs seems like a punishment for people. Despite paying some of the highest taxes in the world, Indians get zero benefits from the government.

Even with falling global crude oil prices, the government has not passed on the benefit to the common man. Instead, the BJP government has made over 3 lakh crore from the petroleum sector in only one year and 18 lakh crores from hikes on excise duty on fuel in 6 years.
The Indian National Congress, through this campaign, urges the government to immediately roll back the hike in excise duty of petrol and diesel and pass on the benefit of low crude oil price to the people of India in these difficult times.
