The decision came after Congress MLAs decided to pass a resolution authorising Congress’s high command to select the next leader of the party in the Assembly. Party president Mallikarjun Kharge said the name was decided after thorough consultations with senior Congress leaders.
After the name was finalised, Congress workers were seen celebrating the decision on the road in Shimla. In the home district of Sukhu, women were also seen dancing over the good news.
