New Delhi: A 14-year-old minor girl died after she was allegedly gang-raped by son of Panchayat member belonging to Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal’s Nadia district on Sunday.
The girl’s family claimed that their daughter was gang-raped by local TMC leader’s son and his accomplices. After a case was lodged, the cops have arrested the rape accused.
Brajgopal Goala is the son of Samar Goala, member of local gram panchayat from TMC.
The minor, who is a class 9 student had gone to residence of local TMC leader’s son for a birthday party where she was allegedly gangraped.
“My daughter was bleeding profusely and complained of severe abdominal pain after she came back from the party. Before we could take her to hospital, she died. Those present at his residence accepted that she was harassed. Se are sure she was gang-raped by the accused and his friends,” the girl’s mother told reporters.
What has sparked a storm is the hurried & forced cremation of the rape victim. Minor girl’s mother alleged that people took her body for cremation even before her death certificate was issued.
When quizzed about blood-curdling incident, Bengal Minister for Women & Child Development sought to dodge responsibility and said the obvious, ‘state govt has zero tolerance over abuse of women & minor’
“There should not be any politics over the incident. Police will do everything possible to investigate and take further action,” she said.
Meanwhile, BJP has called for 12-hour bandh in protest against heinous crime and demanded immediate action against the accused son of TMC office-bearer.
