New Delhi: With a landslide victory in 64 out of 119 constituencies of Telangana, Congress scripted history by coming into power and dethroning K Chandrashekhar Rao’s BRS (formerly TRS) who ruled over the state ever since it came into existence in 2014.
After a close contest between the two parties for the initial few minutes, Congress started gaining over BRS slowly and eventually maintained a comfortable lead over the pink party which only managed to emerge victorious on 39 seats by the end of the vote count.
Celebrations kickstarted outside Revnath Reddy’s office soon after the party zoomed passed the magical number of 60 earlier today.
As the day progressed, the picture kept on getting clear with each passing hour and finally, the ruling party BRS accepted its defeat and even congratulated INC for claiming the throne of India’s youngest state.
Wishing Congress luck for their triumph in the mandate, KCR took to his Twitter (X) and wrote, “Grateful to the people of Telangana for giving BRS party two consecutive terms of Government. Not saddened over the result today, but surely disappointed as it was not in the expected lines for us.”
“We will take this in our stride as learning and will bounce back Congratulations to the Congress party on winning the mandate. Wishing you Good Luck”, added the BRS leader.
Grateful to the people of Telangana for giving @BRSparty two consecutive terms of Government 🙏
