New Delhi: Social media influencer Sapna Gill was arrested for allegedly attacking cricketer Prithvi Shaw. Speaking to the news agency ANI, she stated that she did not ask for selfies and alleged that she and her friends were sexually and physically assaulted. The influencer rejected all the allegations against her.
Sapna Gill said that they (she and her friends accused in the case), did not beat anyone and they also did not ask for money or selfies. She alleged that her friends were being beaten with a baseball bat and when she went to rescue them, one or two people hit her and also touched her private parts. Sapna’s advocate Kaashif Ali Khan also filed an application stating ‘outrage of modesty’ and attack with a ‘deadly weapon’.
Prithvi Shaw was allegedly manhandled and attacked with a baseball bat outside a hotel in Mumbai’s Santacruz, following an argument with Sapna Gill and her friend Shobit Thakur. The videos of the incident made rounds on the internet and it was said that Shaw rejected the request for a selfie and things escalated.
The Oshiwara Police arrested Sapna and also booked seven others in the case. She and the three accused were granted bail by a Mumbai court while police asked was extending the remand on the pretext of recovering the baseball bat and the vehicle used.
On the other hand, Sapna Gill’s lawyer filed a criminal complaint against Prithvi Shaw, Ashish Surendra Yadav, Brijesh and others for molestation and outrage of modesty in public.
