UNGA President Csaba Korosi pays tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat on his death anniversary

Korosi was also gifted a statue of the bust of Gandhi at Raj Ghat. The President of UNGA was invited on a three-day visit by the External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. 

New Delhi: Csaba Korosi, President of the 77th UN General Assembly (UNGA) is on a 3-day visit to India and he paid floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat on his death anniversary. Korosi was also gifted a statue of the bust of Gandhi at Raj Ghat. The President of UNGA was invited on a three-day visit by the External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. 

Today, 75 years ago, the symbol of India’s non-violent struggle was assassinated and Csaba Korosi, who is here in the year of India’s G20 Presidency, took the opportunity to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi.

On his visit to India, Korosi met External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar, who host him for a millet lunch. The two diplomats discussed UN reform, the Ukraine conflict and the G20 agenda. Dr S Jaishankar also assured him of India’s support in ‘developmental progress and reformed multilateralism’.

Korosi also met G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant and said that G20 is an important platform to exchange ideas and solutions. As we move close to the first anniversary of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Korosi acknowledged that the war caused a food crisis across the globe. He also lauded India for calling out for peace in Ukraine and across the world.

The President of UNGA will travel to Bengaluru on January 31, to interact with scientists at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and to take a look at an IISc-led water conservation project.
