The incident was reported to be in Unnao where the groom and his family had come to complete the wedding rituals from Kanpur. Half of the wedding rituals were completed but the bride decided to cancel the wedding just before the main ritual as she found that the groom wears a wig to hide his baldness.
The unfortunate incident happened with the groom because he fell dizzy and got fainted just before walking into the mandap. His fall to the ground revealed the truth of being a bald man that he has been hiding with the bride’s family for a long time.
As soon as the bride saw the bald groom, she refused to marry the boy. According to media reports, the family member of both sides tried to convince her to complete the ritual. However, all efforts went in vain as she remained firm on her stand to cancel the wedding.
The matter also went to the local police station, where the police officials also failed to convince the bride. The groom and his family returned to Kanpur. They had to return Rs 5.66 lakh to the girl’s family that they had spent on the marriage.
On the bride’s decision, his uncle said it was not the right decision of the groom to hide the truth. It shocked the bide as she was not mentally prepared. ”You cannot expect a marriage to last on untruth,” he added.
