UP govt to revitalize nine historical heritage sites with an investment of Rs 490 crore

Lucknow: In its endeavor to establish Uttar Pradesh as a premier tourist destination in the country, the Yogi government is actively engaged in the transformation of nine selected historical monuments of the state into luxury hotels and adaptive reuse assets.
In accordance with the Chief Minister’s vision, a detailed project plan was prepared in this regard, and the responsibility of implementing it has been entrusted to the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department. According to the outlined plan, a total investment of Rs 490 crore will be utilized to redefine these historical monuments. The process of agency selection to carry out this task is also underway.
As per the project, the Chhatrmanzil in Lucknow will undergo a significant transformation with a Rs 100 crore investment, and both the Chunar Fort in Mirzapur and Barua Sagar Fort in Jhansi will get transformed with investments of Rs 100 crore each. Similarly, work is underway to complete the makeover process of Kothi Gulistan-e-Iram, Kothi Darshan Vilas, and Kothi Roshan-ud-Daula of Lucknow with an investment of Rs 50 crore each.
Furthermore, the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department has begun the process of Private Sector Participation (PSP) based on leases for the development of ten Rahi Tourist Bungalows in the state.
Jal Mahal, Shukla Talab and Tikaitarai Baradari will also undergo transformation
In line with Chief Minister Yogi’s vision, the process of converting Jal Mahal in Barsana, Mathura, Shukla Pond in Kanpur Dehat and Tikait Rai Baradari in Kanpur Nagar into adaptive reuse assets through an investment of Rs 30 crore each has been started.
Notably, the current initiative by the Uttar Pradesh government aims to revitalize the state’s heritage properties through investments from the private sector. In this regard, these locations are set to be transformed into wellness centers, heritage hotels, luxury resorts, museums, boutique restaurants, marriage destinations, wedding venues, adventure tourism spots, hostels, theme parks, and other tourist and guest facilities.
Facilitating the revitalization and operation of 10 Rahi Tourist Bungalows
Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department has initiated the process of lease-based Private Sector Participation (PSP) for the development of 10 Rahi Tourist Bungalows in the state. These include Deva Sharif in Barabanki, Hargaon in Sitapur, Kandhla in Shamli, Soron in Etah, Khurja in Bulandshahr, Munshiganj in Amethi, Patna Bird Sanctuary in Etah, Kachla in Badaun, Chunar in Mirzapur, and Bhupiya Mau in Pratapgarh.
Applications are invited through e-tendering for the operation and development process of these Rahi Tourist Bungalows through PSP process. It is anticipated that the allocation process will be completed in November.
