New Delhi: In a rare protest over announcement of candidates list for Kerala elections, Mahila Congress chief Lathika Subhash quit from the post and even shaved her head protesting against party’s lopsided priorities.
The uproar began soon after Congress announced list of candidates for upcoming Kerala elections. Lathika Subhash said she was disappointed with party for reneging its promise of 20% seats for women and giving ‘preferential treatment’ to male candidates.

“I had expressed my desire to contest from Ettumanur as this is my birthplace and this is where I have grown up.,” said Lathika.
Congress has named Prince Lukose from this constituency.
Following the announcement, Lathika resigned protesting against inadequate representation of women in the candidate list. She went ahead and got her tonsured, which got wide coverage in the state.

Cong to contest 92 seats in Kerala
Congress is set to contest 92 seats in Kerala Assembly elections. It announced list of 86 seats today. Congress has fielded its Vadakara MP to give tough fight to only BJP MLA from Nemom constituency.
