Uttarakhand Opinion Poll: BJP seen pipping Cong in close race but Harish Rawat is most popular choice for CM post

New Delhi: Assembly elections for 70-member Uttarakhand Assembly will take place in single phase on February 14 and results will be declared on March 10.

As the parties enter the poll arena with high-octane electioneering via digital campaign & door to door outreach, the Opinion Poll conducted by The Republic-P Marq predicts a close fight in the Devbhoomi. In the poll fray, BJP, Congress & AAP are the major players but the Opinion poll sees it more of a bipolar contest than triangular fight. AAP is unlikely to create any upheaval in vote percentage, it says.

Who will grab power in Devbhoomi?

Pushkar Singh Dhami-led BJP is headed into the electoral battle aiming for securing second term in power, a feat not recorded since the formation of state. Facts show that incumbent governments have not returned to power in the state.

If Republic-P Marq Opinion poll numbers are to be believed, the state will script history, with BJP forming govt for the second term however, it won’t be easy victory. According to Survey, BJP is likely to get 36-42 seats in 70 member Assembly while Congress is projected to win 25-31 seats while debutant AAP will have to settle with just 0-2 seats.

Largest party by vote share

Going by vote share, BJP is again seen emerging as single largest party while Congress coming close second. BJP is projected to bag 39.9% vote share while Cong my get 37.5% share. Though AAP is falling behind on seat numbers but its vote share of 13% are enough to pose a daunting challenge to rivals.

Who is most preferred CM face?

The respondents in Republic-P Marq Opinion poll have voted in large numbers for their favourite CM face. At 34%, Dhami is a popular choice for CM post but Cong’s Harish Rawat manages to take easy lead with 37% respondents choosing him as the preferred CM candidate. AAP’s Col Ajay Kothiyal also got support of 9% electorate.
