Uttarakhand takes lead in implementing NEP, ‘Bal Vatikas’ inaugurated at Anganwadi kendras

Speaking on the occasion, CM Dhami said that the implementation of NEP will mark the beginning of culture-based education in the country and will lay the foundation for a strong & bright future for youngsters.

New Delhi: Taking lead in the implementation of New Education Policy (NEP), Uttarakhand has become the first state in the country to initiate the process for its systemic roll out.

The New Education Policy, a first of its kind and comprehensive education policy was unveiled by the Centre in 2020, with an aim to revamp the education system from 10+2 model to 5+3+3+2 model and address the multiple crises associated with it.

Taking first step in this direction, Uttarakhand chief minister inaugurated the ‘Bal Vatikas’ at the Anganwadi Kendras across the state, thus paving the way for implementation of NEP 2020 at the pre-primary education level.

The ‘Bal Vatikas’ will become operational at about 4,457 anganwadi kendras in the state and will be equivalent to the nursery classes at a private school.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Dhami said that the implementation of NEP will mark the beginning of culture-based education in the country and will lay the foundation for a strong & bright future for youngsters.

“No project will be left hanging. We will ensure that every project whose foundation stone is being laid sees the light of day,” he said.

Education Minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that the NEP replaces the Macaulay system of education which was followed in the country for decades.

“By 2030, the NEP will be fully implemented in Uttarakhand,” he said.

Uttarakhand took lead in preparing UCC draft too

The state has also taken lead in drafting a Uniform Civil Code (UCC), which will bring people of all faith & religion under one umbrella. Soon after taking oath for the second term, the Chief Minister announced constitution of a committee for drafting of the UCC law. Dhami made the promise of rolling out UCC during campaigning for 2022 Assembly polls.

CM Dhami said that the government has laid out roadmap for developing Uttarakhand as a leading state state by 2025, the year when the state will celebrate silver jubilee of its formation.
