New Delhi: Kerela Police, on Friday, arrested a middle-aged woman from the state’s southern district for mercilessly assaulting her 80-year-old mother-in-law.
In the video, the 37-year-old accused woman, identified as Manju Thomas, can be seen rushing into the living room of her house in which her mother-in-law and two children were present. She is then seen yelling at the old lady, ordering her to go outside the room.
However, when the old woman refused to get up from her bed and leave the room, infuriated Manju forcefully pushed her from the back, causing the old woman to fall to the ground.
The accused doesn’t just stop there and continues to shout at her mother-in-law until she gets up from the floor and exits the room. She then makes an objectionable gesture towards the unidentified person who was filming her during the incident.

Accused teaches in private school
Later, police took the accused woman in custody after booking her under Sec 308 of IPC (attempt to commit culpable homicide) & Section 24 of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act on the basis of the video evidence.

Speaking about the incident, an official revealed that the assaulted old lady has been identified as Eliyamma Thomas who is the mother-in-law of the accused. He further said that Manju, who was employed as a teacher in Chavara’s private school, was assaulting the old woman for quite a while.
