The incident drew widespread criticism on social media, with Twitter users denouncing it as inhumane. Indu Dubey, the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Pune, issued a statement in response to the incident, acknowledging the inconvenience caused by sleeping on the platform but emphasizing that the handling of the situation was not suitable. The concerned staff has been advised to treat passengers with dignity, politeness, and decency, according to Dubey.
In response to a viral video showing security personnel pouring water on sleeping passengers at Pune station, the railway expressed regret over the incident and acknowledged that the approach taken by the security personnel was inappropriate.
