The superintending archaeologist for Agra Circle of ASI Raj Kumar Patel later revealed that although he is unsure whether the women were YouTube influencers or not, it appeared to him that they were recording the video to upload on Social media

New Delhi: In a shocking turn of events, a team of 5 women was made to say sorry for doing Yoga on the Taj Mahal’s red sandstone platform on Sunday.

Women doing Yoga on Taj Mahal’s red sandstone goes viral

In the video, 4 women dressed in all black can be seen practicing Surya Namaskar (a yoga practice) while standing on the Taj Mahal’s redstone with their 5th partner recording them in the act. They can also be spotted wearing shoes during the exercise.

Took a written Apology

Later, the senior assistant conservator at the Taj Mahal for the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) Prince Vajpayee spoke about the matter and informed that four of the five women hail from Agra while the fifth one is from Aligarh.

He said, “We came to know about the yoga being performed on red sandstone platform on Sunday by a group of women, four of them from Agra and one from Aligarh. We took an apology from them in writing before allowing them to leave.”

When asked about their actions, the group of women said that they were unaware of the rules restricting any kind of promotional and campaigning activities inside the Taj’s premises.

Were Making Reels for Social Media

The superintending archaeologist for Agra Circle of ASI Raj Kumar Patel later revealed that although he is unsure whether the women were YouTube influencers or not, it appeared to him that they were recording the video to upload on Social media.

Interestingly, the incident occurred just a day after a video of a man doing headstand (Sheershasan) on the white marble platform (near the main mosuleam) of the Taj Mahal also went viral on social media yesterday.
