New Delhi: After a month of run, Radical Sikh preacher Amritpal Singh was today arrested by Punjab Police in Monga. Before his arrest, Amritpal Singh was seen addressing a gathering at a Gurdwara in Rode village of Moga district. Officials said that Amritpal Singh was arrested from the Gurdwara. Amritpal Singh's supporters also refer to him as "Bhindranwale 2.0". Earlier, Police had recieved information that 'Waris Punjab De' chief' was in Rode village. Amritpal Singh was frced to surrender because he knew that Police had surrounded him from all sides. Sukhchain Singh, Inspector General of Police, Punjab said that they did not enter the Gurudwara Sahib to maintain sanctity. His arrest comes days after his wife was Kirandeep Kaur was stopped at the Amritsar airport while she was trying to board a flight to London.
