Water dispute turns deadly in Delhi, woman dies after knife attack by neighbour in Vasant Kunj

According to reports, the 48-year-old Shyam Kala was filling water outside her home at around 6 AM. It was then her neighbour named Arjun also came out. A quarrel broke out between them and took an ugly turn.

New Delhi: The national capital was rocked by a horrific and terrible incident on Tuesday, as a woman was allegedly murdered by her neighbour over water dispute. The woman was attacked with a sharp object and her throat slit with a long knife leading to spot death.

The incident was reported from a slum cluster in South Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area where two people got into an altercation & scuffle over fetching water from the tap.

According to reports, the 48-year-old Shyam Kala was filling water outside her home at around 6 AM. It was then her neighbour named Arjun also came out. A quarrel broke out between them over filling water from the water tap installed outside their house and it took an ugly turn.

According to victim’s son, the accused attacked him and his father. Her father tried to intervene between the fight that broke out. He also received grievous injuries in the attack while Shyam Kala passed away at the spot.

“The woman turned unconsciousness and was lying on the floor motionless and completely drenched in blood,” said one of the eyewitness.

The victim’s family said they are scared as the accused are said to be habitual trouble makers and often get into a fight with other residents. They have created a terror in the locality.

The attacker, Arjun, is understood to have been involved in criminal activities in the past. Police has nabbed the 30-year-old accused who was on the run. Police is also suspecting water dispute to be the reason behind murder, however, his interrogation is underway.

What is worrying is the horrible turn of event in the national capital, where state administration provides free water & electricity.
