New Delhi: The Government of India has urged everyone to celebrate “Cow Hug Day” on February 14 instead of celebrating the “western” traditions of Valentine’s Day.

In the new appeal by the Government for February 14, people are encouraged to take the animals into an embrace. In Hinduism, Cow is said to be a holy and sacred animal and is often referred to as “mother”

According to the statement issued by the Government, on this day people must hug a cow as it “will bring emotional richness” and also increase individual and collective happiness.

Cow hug day has been declared so that older traditions of India are not forgotten.

What is Cow Hug Day?

The Animal Welfare Board of India has urged people to celebrate ‘Cow Hug Day’ on February 14 which is celebrated as Valentine’s Day every day. The Board said due to the progress of western culture the Vedic traditions are on the verge of “extinction.”

The statement also read that it is important to celebrate this day keeping in mind the importance of the mother cows and making life happy and full of positive energy.

Following this, the Uttar Pradesh Animal Husbandry Minister Dharampal Singh also urged people to celebrate ‘Cow Hug Day’, instead of celebrating Valentine’s Day on February 14.

He said in India, many people have problems with Valentine’s Day celebrations and for them, the government has declared this day.

Union minister Giriraj Singh also welcomed the decision of celebrating Cow Day on February 14.
