When Sidhu & Punjab Youth Cong chief got into verbal duel over price rise protest (VIDEO)

The protest by Congress, which was meant to corner AAP govt in Punjab & Modi govt in Centre, turned out to be laughing stock for itself. Lately, the party in Punjab has been hit by internal dissidence and rift due to multiple ‘power centres’ within the state unit.

New Delhi: Following the ignominious exit of Congress from power in Punjab, the grand old party is facing internal differences and voices of dissent are also coming to the fore.

In latest incident of bickering within the party, former Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh and state youth Congress chief Balinder Singh Dhillon got into a verbal spat at a public forum.

PYC chief Balinder Singh Dhillon got into direct altercation with Navjot Singh Sidhu while his supporters shouted slogans in his favour. Video of the incident has gone viral on social media and is drawing much embarrassment for the party.

The incident happened when Congress leaders had assembled in Chandigarh to protest against the skyrocketing prices of essential items. Addressing the gathering, Sidhu called out his own and said there were many Congressman neck-deep in corruption, however he refrained from taking names.

This left other Congress leaders infuriated. Punjab Youth Congress president Balinder Singh Dhillon took objection to Sidhu’s ‘grandstanding’ and slammed him for ‘playing to the gallery’, rather than taking up the cause of price hike.

The protest by Congress, which was meant to corner AAP govt in Punjab & Modi govt in Centre, turned out to be laughing stock for itself. Lately, the party in Punjab has been hit by internal dissidence and rift due to multiple ‘power centres’ within the state unit. Before elections, Capt Amarinder-Sidhu spat followed by Charanjit Channi’s controversial elevation as CM dominated the headlines while after defeat in Punjab polls, the party has become ‘headless’. There are various factions within the party, reportedly under Sunil Jakhar, Navjot Sidhu & others and muscle flexing is also on to gain control of the party.

In such scenario, the public altercation between 2 top Punjab Congress leaders is something that the party can afford to avoid for now.
