Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday reacted to the Hijab protests that began on February 4 at the Government Girls PU college in Udupi district when some students alleged that they had been barred from attending classes.
Taking to Twitter, Priyanka Vadra said that, “it is a woman’s right to decide what she wants to wear. This right is GUARANTEED by the Indian constitution. Stop harassing women.”
Soon after her Tweet, BJP’s Kapil Mishra quoted Priyanka Gandhi’s Tweet and said that, “It’s not women’s choice in Islam. Look at Afghanistan , Iran and Pakistan.”
The protest started after the pre-University education board had released a circular stating that the students can only wear the uniform approved by the school administration and no other religious practices will be allowed in colleges.
