New Delhi: In a remarkable moment, a Rajisthan-crade 1989-batch IPS officer Nina Singh was promoted to the respectable post of Central Industrial Security Force’s (CISF) Director General by the government on Thursday. With this, Nina is now set to become the only woman to lead this important paramilitary force of the country.
Nina Singh started her career as a civil servant by getting appointed as a Manipur-cadre IPS officer but was later transferred to the Rajasthan-cadre. From there, her hard work passion & dedication to her career took her to the highest-ranked post in the CISF and now, her life has become an inspiring story for many aspiring women.
Who is Nina Singh?
Nina, who hails from Bihar, received her education from Patna Women’s College and the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), following that, she flew to America where she worked hard and earned a master’s degree in Public Administration from the prestigious Harward University.
Notably, Neena has also jointly authored various research papers with acclaimed laureates like Esther Dufflo & Abhijit Banerjee.
Besides serving the nation as a civil servant, Singh has worked with the CBI where she was appointed to the Joint Directorate of CBI from 2013 to 2018. During her tenure in the post, she was assigned the task of supervising various notable cases including the Jiah Khan suicide case & Sheena Bora murder case.

Nina’s husband Rohit Kumar Singh is working for the Department of Consumer Affairs and is currently appointed as the Secretary of the Union Consumer Affairs Ministry.
