New Delhi: An unfortunate dog attack claimed the life of Wagh Bakri Tea Group’s senior executive Parag Desai on Sunday. As per the reports, the 4th generation entrepreneur died after he was hounded by a pack of street dogs during a morning walk near his residence.
The same reports further claim that Desai seriously injured himself after he fell to the ground in an attempt to run away from the dogs that were attacking him.
Following that, when a security person spotted Desai struggling for life, he immediately alerted his family members about the same and rushed him to a hospital where he went through initial treatment. Later, Desai was taken to another private hospital where he unfortunately succumbed to his head injury and and died at the age of 49 on 22nd October.
Who was Parag Desai?
Parag Desai, a businessman and entrepreneur, was working in the post of Managing Director in India’s leading Tea Company Wagh Bakri Tea Group where he used to lead sales, exports, HR, and other marketing departments.
His father Rajesh Desai is the managing director of the same Tea company where Paras Desai worked for more than 30 years after earning his MBA degree from the United States’ Long Island University. The website of Wagh Bakri Tea describes him as someone who was an expert Tea taster and evaluator.
Condolences Pour in
Following his saddening death, the Wagh Barki Tea Group condoled his loss with an Instagram post that read, “With Profound Grief and Sorrow, we regret to inform you the sad demise of our beloved Shri Parag Desai who left for his heavenly adobe on October 22nd, 2023 Sunday.”
Congress Leader and MP Shaksin Gohil also reacted to Desai’s death and wrote, “Very sad news coming in. Parag Desai, Director and owner Wagh Bakri Tea passed away. He had a brain hemorrhage following a fall. May his soul rest in peace. My condolences to the entire Wagh Bakri family across India.”

Doctor Sudhir Mehta too spoke about Desai’s untimely death while raising concerns about the increasing dog attacks in the country. In his long Twitter (Now X) post, Mehta wrote “Yesterday #ParagDesai, a personal friend, and the Executive Director of the Wagh Bakri Tea Group, tragically lost his life due to a brain hemorrhage caused by a fatal fall when he was desperately trying to escape an attack by street dogs”
“The menace of stray dogs is one of the most polarizing issues, it has become one of the most contentious and critical issues of our time”, he added further.
