New Delhi: Chennai police on Monday nabbed a prostitution ring disguised as “wife-swapping parties” at the East Coast road (ECR) and arrested eight people involved in the same.
The accused have been held for advertising and organizing illegal wife-swapping parties in Chennai and other two-tier cities of Tamil Nadu including Coimbatore, Madurai, Salem, and Erode for over 8 years.
Single men were the target
As per the investigating officer, all the busted organizers of the ring used to target single and lonely men by introducing some random women to them as their spouses and then offering them to swap partners in exchange for an amount of money which was usually between 13K to 25K.
A Report published in the Times of India further tells that an official has spoken about the incident and said, “The accused gang created a page on the internet which was used as a platform for Inciting and encouraging single and even married men to indulge in the controversial practice of wife swapping. The more money one used to give, the more women were provided to accompany him at the beach houses.”
Several women freed
During the raid, the anti-vice squad also freed several middle-aged women (30-40 years old) who were brought into this dark world of prostitution by the accused persons in exchange for a huge amount of money.
The racket got busted after the neighbors called the local police and reported to them the loud music, alcohol, and large gathering of people at the accused premises (Panaiyur house) past midnight.
Upon receiving the information, an Ani-Vice team under the leadership of NS Kumar rushed into the Panaiyur house and found several rich businessmen accompanied by women in private rooms.
Although the squad arrested all the accused on the spot, the women involved were allowed to go back home with their families after making them sign a written undertaking.
What is Wife Swapping?
Wife swapping is a controversial Western practice that is popularly known as ‘swinging’. It involves the exchanging of spouses by two or more couples or individuals who consent to engage in sexual and intimate activities with one another’s partner.
The practice is popular among individuals who are willing to break away from their colorless married life and do something that caters to their sexual fantasies.
While a large section of society oppose swinging by claiming that it’s nothing but just “cheating with consent “, those in favor of the practice refuse to call it cheating by saying that all the individual involved are aware of what they are getting into and their partner has consented to the same.
