New Delhi: Dropping a bombshell, even as Punjab Congress steers through a critical phase after change of guard, Captain Amarinder Singh on Wednesday threatened to put up a strong candidate against Navjot Sidhu if latter becomes party’s Chief Ministerial face in Punjab.

Taking his aversion for Navjot Singh Sidhu, the man behind his ouster as Punjab Chief Minister, Captain asserted that he was ready for any sacrifice to stop him from taking over the top post in the state.

In no uncertain terms, the former CM warned Congress that if Navjot Sidhu become party’s CM face, then it can give up its dream of retaining power in the state and touching double digits.

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh

Captain has launched a scathing attack on Navjot Sidhu, ever since he stepped down as the Chief Minister. Earlier, he termed Sidhu anti-national for his outreach to Pakistan and embracing Pak Army chief Bajwa.

Captain’s open revolt against Congress

Captain Amarinder Singh’s searing remarks against Punjab PCC chief is no less than an open revolt against the party, given the fact that Navjot Sidhu enjoys direct blessings of ‘new power centre’ in the party.  In last few months, Captain felt ignored and humiliated as he was summoned to Delhi for couple of times, apparently for explanation for his style of governance. Also, Congress legislature party meets were organised without his knowledge, he had claimed.

Captain also said that he would have left politics after victory but not after such a humiliating and ignominious exit.

“I was prepared to leave politics after victory but never after a loss”, Captain Amarinder Singh’s media advisor Raveen Thukral tweeted today.

Captain’s dig at Sidhu over luxury trip

Captain Amarinder Singh’s media advisor tweeted yesterday, taking a dig at the ‘luxury trip’ availed by new Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi and Navjot Sidhu.

“What a ‘gareeban di sarkar’! A 16-seater Learjet to ferry 4 people when a 5-seater official chopper was available,” he tweeted and further vented anger over the fact that the common will have to foot the bill for their expensive travels.
